AN ADVENTURE WITH JOHN

ROBERT B. FRENCH, JR.

The book of John is beloved by today’s Christians. One of the reasons for this affection is because it is so paradoxical. Its simplicity appeals to the most humble reader, while its complexity challenges and baffles the most dedicated scholars. No one ever knows all there is to know about this book. In studying John, the most ardent student painfully realizes that the most adroit conception of the truth of the book falls far short of explaining each nuance of the book. Frequently, it is impossible to convey one’s impressions of the spiritual aspects of the book because some of the book’s truths are indescribable.

REVIEWS

Good News for all of you who know that the Gospels represent the truth. Something that is hard to find these days. In this large , but easy to read analysis of the Gospel of John, we find an depth study of what many of us know as our favorite book of the New Testament. I ordered two more for friends and hope and pray that this will encourage them to go further and actually read the real thing.

September 28, 1982, 9:32 A.M., Lisa Ann Millican, a 13-year-old runaway from a Georgia orphan home, was standing in the wind two inches from the edge of a 430-foot canyon precipice. She had been raped for two days and injected six times with Drano. In minutes, she will be shot in the back and pushed over the edge. Alvin Neeley will then be ready to entice another female to rape and kill.

In Alabama, being a Republican meant being punished for my politics. Out of law school less than 30 days, I had been forced to represent a member of the Klu Klux Klan in one of the worst racially motivated, gang rape, capital cases in Alabama history and now would be forced to represent the killer, Neelley’s 18-year-old wife, Judith Ann.  Neelley was my 17th murder or rape case at my personal expense.
